The actress and singer Phyllis Monkman made her first appearances on stages as a teenager, among others in "Butterflies" in 1908.

It followed stage plays and revues in which she was very successful in the 10's.
In 1913 she made her film debut with "Persian dance: Eightpence a Mile", it followed the silent movies "Her Heritage" (19) and Alfred Hitchcock's "Blackmail" (29).

In the talkies of the 30's and 40's followed her last cinematical performances, among them "The King of Paris" (34), "Everything Happens to Me" (38), "The Good Old Days" (40) and "Diamond City" (49).
