Karl Baumgartner

The actor Karl Baumgartner first finishe a technology study but soon he became enthusiastic about the theater and he got acting lessons at the Kierschnerschen theater academy in the 1870s.

Afterwards he appeared at the Nationaltheater in Berlin, it followed engagements in Aachen, Dresden, Vienna Klagenfurt, Innsbruck, Linz and Salzburg.

In 1880s he also realised several plays for the stage as a director.

He impersonated his greatest roles at the Burgtheater in Vienna where he was active for many years.

From 1910 Karl Baumgartner also took part in movies.
To these silent movies belong "Der Meineidbauer" (15), "Sommeridylle" (16), "Die Tragödie auf Schloss Rottersheim" (16), "Der Doppelselbstmord" (18) and "Gespenster" (18).

His last cinematical works came in the 20s into being with "Der Feuertod" (20), "Eine versunkene Welt" (21) and "Der Mann, der zweimal starb..." (22).
