1910 - 1988
The actress Toni van Eyck was born as Johanne Gertrud Antonie Eick.
She learnt her acting abilites at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna and later at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich.
Already at the age of 15 she appeared at different stages and convinced
the critics with her performances.
While the theater remained her main activity she took part in other movies of the 30's, among them "Revolte im Erziehungshaus" (30), "Gefahren der Liebe" (31) - where she impersonated her first leading role as a victim of a rape who finally becomes a murderer - "Strich durch die Rechnung" (32), "Was wissen denn Männer" (33) and "Männer vor der Ehe" (36).
After a longer engagement at the Burgtheater from 1938 to 1942 she went to the Salzburger Landestheater after the war. She only played in one more movie called "Ruf aus dem Äther" (51).
She published a novel with the title "Ein Mann namens Miller" in 1955.
