The actor and director Henry Edwards belonged to the most important
British filmworkers from 1915, as an actor as well as an director.
He conquered soon the big screen as a leading actor and enchanted the
audience with movies like "A Welsh Singer" (15), "Lost and Won" (15), "The
Failure" (17), "The Cobweb" (17), "The Touch of a Child" (18), "The Refugee"
(18), "The Hanging Judge" (18), "The Kinsman" (19) and "Broken in the Wars"
(19).
His career as an actor went hand in hand with the one as a director.
He realised movies like "Broken Threads" (17), "The Secret" (18), "Anna"
(18) and "Possession" (19) for the Hepworth company - often at Chrissie
White's side (22 movies at all).
Henry Edwards was active as a director till to the 30's.
In contrast to Chrissie White, who he got married in 1922, he intensive
continued his film career in the 20's. He appeared in productions like
"John Forrest Finds Himself" (20), "Aylwin" (20), "The Bargain" (21), "The
Flag Lieutenant (26), "The Fake" (27), "Indizienbeweis" (29) and "The Three
Kings" (29).
His appearances in front of the camera diminished from the 30's, to
his movies of that time belong "Call of the Sea" (30), "Captain's Orders"
(37), "The Magic Bow" (46), "Oliver Twist" (48), "Elizabeth of Ladymead"
(48), "Golden Salamander" (50), "The Magic Box" (51) and "The Long Memory"
(52).
He also directed some impressive productions in the 30's, among them
"The Man Who Changed His Name" (34), "Scrooge" (35) and "Juggernaut" (36)
with Boris Karloff.
