The actor Walter Hiers belong to the today forgotten silent movie comedians.
He began his film career with movies like "Just Out of College" (15),
"The Labyrinth" (15) and "Seventeen" (16).
In the next years he took part in comedies as well as dramas and war
movies. To his well-known movies of the 10's belong "God's Man" (17), "A
Man's World" (18), "Our Little Wife" (18), "The Lesson" (18), "The Daredevil"
(18), "The Lamb and the Lion" (19), "Leave It to Susan" (19) and "Bill
Henry" (19).
In the 20's followed the height of his career where he not only was
convincing in funny movies but also in dramas.
To his works in the 20's belong "The Fourteenth Man" (20), "The Snob"
(21), "The Ghost Breaker" (22), "Mr. Billings Spends His Dime" (23) - in
which he impersonated the title role - "The Virgin" (24), "Along Came Ruth"
(24), "Excuse Me" (25), "Naughty" (27), "Speedy" (28) and "A Woman Against
the World" (28).
Beside it he also took part in some comedy short movies like "Tender
Feet" (25), "A Rarin' Romeo" (25) and "Good Spirits" (25).
The talkies ended his career. He only appeared in three more movies
- "The Wide Open Spaces" (32), "A Private Scandal" (32) and "Dancers in
the Dark" (32).
In 1933 he died of pneumonia at the age of 40.
