The height of her career followed in the 20's, to these movies belong "Heart of Twenty" (20), "Patsy" (21), "Youth to Youth" (22), "Triumph" (24), "Changing Husbands" (24) and finally Erich von Strohheim's masterpiece "Greed" (24). With this surprising role she was catapulted to the few top stars of her time who were also convincing in dramatic roles. The film itself was a flopt at that time but today the movie is regarded as one of the most important movies of the US silent movie era.
Other movies of the 20's were "The Great Divide" (25), "The Business of Love" (25), " Monte Carlo" (26), "Risky Business" (26), "The Honeymoon" (28), "The Wedding March" (28), "The Dummy" (29) and "Her Private Life" (29).

The transition to the sound film era was no problem for ZaSu Pitts and she continued her film career with productions like "The Squealer" (30), "Beyond Victory" (31), "The Guardsman" (31), "Destry Rides Again" (32), "Westward Passage" (32), "Blondie of the Follies" (32), "Out All Night" (33), "The Meanest Gal in Town" (34), "Hot Tip" (35), "Wanted!" (37), "52nd Street" (37) and "The Lady's from Kentucky" (39).

Her activity in movies diminished in the 40's, beside it she also worked for the radio and television and took part in Broadway plays.
To her movies of the 40's belong "It All Came True" (40), "Niagara Falls" (41), "Miss Polly" (41), "Let's Face It" (43), "The Perfect Marriage" (47) and "Life with Father" (47).

The 50's were dominated by appearances in TV productions, in between were few more movies for the big screen.
To her last cinematical works belong "Francis" (50), "This Could Be the Night" (57), "The Teenage Millionaire" (61) and "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" (63) - a dignified conclusion of a impressive career.
