1891 - 1988

Ende der 10er Jahre begann sie ihre umfangreiche Filmkarriere mit Filmen mit "The Girl in His House" (18), "The Silver Girl" (19), "The Sneak" (19) und "A Man in the Open" (19).

In den 20er Jahren avancierte sie zur Hauptdarstellerin und spielte in unzähligen Filmen mit, unter anderem in "Godless Men" (20), "Sunset Jones" (21), "The Trap (22), "The Yosemite Trail" (22), "Defying Destiny" (23), "Lucretia Lombard" (23), "Beau Brummel" (24), "Captain January (24), "Lady Windermere's Fan" (25), "The Climbers" (27), "Across the Atlantic" (28) und "Shanghai Rose" (29).

Im Tonfilm der 30er Jahre spielte sie bis 1932 in Filmen wie "On Your Back" (30), "Strangers May Kiss" (31), "The Mad Parade" (31), "The Champ" (31) und "Down to Earth" (32), ehe sie ihre Schauspielerkarriere unterbrach und in den folgenden Jahren als Radiostar der Sendung "Dear John".

Erst 1938 kehrte sie auf die Leinwand zurück und spielte in "That Certain Age" (38), "The Mortal Storm" (40), "The Lady in Question" (40), "This Time for Keeps" (42), "New Orleans" (47) und "Joan of Arc" (48) - ihre letzte Arbeit für das Kino.

Von 1948 bis 1950 spielte sie am Broadway im Stück "As the Girls Go".
