Die Schauspielerin Chrissie White, geboren als Ada White, begann ihre
Laufbahn beim Film bereits im Alter von 14 Jahren.
Sie debütierte in "The Cabman's Good Fairy" (09) und wurde ab
1910 äusserst populär in der Rolle der Tilly mit Filmen wie "Tilly
the Tomboy Visits the Poor" (10), "Tilly's Party" (11), "Tilly and the
Dogs" (11) und "Tilly and the Nut" (15).
Daneben avancierte sie zu einer der ersten britischen Filmstars mit
Kurzfilmen von Regisseur Lewin Fitzhamon.
Zu ihren unzähligen Produktionen der 10er Jahre gehören "The
Mermaid" (12), "Love and a Burglar" (13), "The Basilisk" (14), "The Nightbirds
of London" (15), "Molly Bawn" (16), "Face to Face" (16), "The Failure"
(17), "Daughter of the Wilds" (17), "The Secret" (18), "The Hanging Judge"
(18) und "The Kinsman" (19).
In den 20er Jahren neigte sich die eindrückliche Karriere der Chrissie
White dem Ende zu. Sie heiratete ihren oftmaligen Filmpartner, den Schauspieler
und Regisseur Henry Edwards 1922.
Zu ihren letzten Stummfilmen gehören "Aylwin" (20), "The Amazing
Quest of Mr. Ernest Bliss" (20), "The Bargain" (21), "The Naked Man" (23)
und "Lily of the Alley" (23).
1930 feierte sie ein kurzes Comeback und agierte in zwei weiteren Filmen
- "Call of the Sea"(30) und "General John Regan" (33).
