. The director René Allio showed his artistic talent as an artist and decoration painter first and equiped many theater plays of contemporary authors. He soon made such a great name that he was engaged as scene painter at operas and theaters around the world. Among them the Scala of Milan, the Metropolitan Opera and the National Theater of England. Via this way he finally came to the film and he made his debut as a director in 1963 with "La meule" (63). Already his second movie "La vielle dame indigne" (65) was a big success and he got different awards at international film festivals. René Allio realised other movies in the next years, among them
"L'un et l'autre" (67) and "Pierre et Paul" (69). Also in later years followed
other productions sometimes, so "Les camisards" (72), "Retour à
Marseille" (80), "Un médecin des lumières - Ein Arzt der
Hoffnung" (88) and "Transit" (91).
