. The actor Jean-Paul Belmondo (also known under his pet name "Bebel") is a phenomenon in the world of the French stars. Although he doesn't have the most beautiful face he became one of the most popular ladykillers. But especially his broken nose and his wry face radiated a certain something. And not least his tremendous energy, his easiness and charm, his wit and top fit body helped him to get fame. Jean-Paul Belmondo was the son of the well-known sculptor Paul Belmondo. He wanted to become a boxer but finally he got excited for the acting. He collected first experiences on stage at the age of 17. Belmondo acted in first feature movies from 1956, among them "Molière" (56), "Les tricheurs" (58) and "Ein Engel auf Erden" (59), after that followed the role which made him famous in one go - „A bout de souffle - Ausser Atem“ (59) directed by Jean-Luc Godard. Other leading roles followed in „La viaccia - Das Haus in der Via Roma“ (60) and „La ciociara - …und dennoch leben sie“ (61). With „Cartouche, der Bandit“ (61) he impersonated one of his many successful
roles as a rakish rascal and seducer on which based his later fame.
He rallied a crowd with movies like „Pierrot le fou - 11 Uhr nachts“ (65), „Les tribulations d'un chinois en Chine - Die tollen Abenteuer des Monsieur L.“ (65), „Le voleur - Der Dieb von Paris“ (66), „Casino Royale“ (66), „La sirène du Mississipi - Das Geheimnis der falschen Braut“ (69), "Borsalino“ (70), „L'alpagueur - Der Greifer“ (75) „Flic ou voyou - Der Windhund“ (78), „Le guignolo - Der Puppenspieler“ (79), „Le professionnel - Der Profi“ (81) and „L'as des as - Das As der Asse“ (82). Jean-Paul Belmondo went into film history as the fellow with tight jeans,
a broad grin and his sharp tongue.Als der Typ in engen Jeans und knapper
Jacke, hochgestelltem Kragen, immer einen trockenen Spruch auf der Zunge,
dem breiten Grinsen, ging Jean-Paul Belmondo in die Filmgeschichte ein.
