The actor Michel Constantin was born as Constantin Hokloff in Billancourt.
Because of his stature the tall actor impressed the audience.
At the beginning of the 50's he worked as a journalist for "L'Equipe"
and was captain of the French volleyball team. There he met his wife Maurine
who played for the Algerian team.
Michel Constantin made his film debut in 1956 with "En effeuillant la
marguerite" (56), but his breakthrough followed four years later when he
was engaged by Jacques Becker for the movie "Le trou" (60).
In the next years he was often engaged at French warhorses like Lino
Ventura and Jean-Paul Belmondo, so in "Les grandes gueules" (66), "Ne nous
fâchons pas" (66), "Le deuxième souffle" (66), "Dernier domicile
connu" (70) and "La scoumoune" (72).
Other well-known movies of those years were "Mise à sac" (67),
"La loi du survivant" (67), "La peau de torpedo" (70), "La part des lions"
(71), "Il était une fois un flic" (71), "Les caïds" (72), "OK
patron" (74), "La traque" (75) and "Ca fait tilt" (78).
His appearances in front of the camera became rarer from the 80's still
he acted in other popular movies like "Signé Furax" (81), "Tir groupé"
(82), "La baston" (85), "La loi sauvage" (88), "Femme de voyou" (91) and
"Paris Melody" (94).
