. The actor Jacques Dumesnil was born as Marie Emile Eugène André Joly in Paris. In the film business he appeared for the first time in the movie "Danton" (32). In the next years he took part in other well-known productions like "La belle de nuit" (34), "L'or" (34), "Le roi des Champs-Elysées" (34), "Lucrèce Borgia" (35), "Les pirates du rail" (38) and "Retour à l'aube" (39). He continued his career successfully in the 40s and 50s. To his most popular movies of that time belong "L'empreinte du Dieu" (40), "Boléro" (42), "Secrets" (43), "La grande meute" (45), "Rumeurs" (47), "Julie de Carneilhan" (50), "Il visconte di Bragelonne" (54), "Naploéon" (55), "Si Paris nous était conté" (56), "Le septième commandement" (57) and "La vie à deux" (58). Jacques Dumesnil remained active till the old age, his last film he shot at the age of 76. to his last cinematical works belong "La tricheuse" (61), "La planque" (62), "Horace" (63), "Pour Vermeer" (73), the serial "Le village englouti" (76), "Il y a encore des noisetiers" (78) and an episode of the serial "Les enquêtes du commissaire Maigret: Maigret et l'ambassadeur" (80).
