. The actor and director Pierre Etaix began his professional career as an artist. He came into contact with the film business in 1949 for the first time as a production assistant. In 1958 he became a director assistant of Jacques Tati for the movie
"Mon oncle" (58), one year later he made his debut as an actor in "Pickpocket"
(59).
To his movies as an actor belong "Rupture" (61), "Une grosse tête" (62), "Yoyo" (65), "Le voleur" (67), "Le grand amour" (69), "Max mon amour" (86), "Les idiots" (87) and "Henry & June" (90). His greatest success was the award of the Oscar in 1963 for his short movie "Heureux anniversaire" (62). Besides his activity in the film business he also appeared together with the clown Nino in different shows. Pierre Etaix was married with the actress Annie Fratellini.
