The actress Edwige Feuillère was born as Caroline Yvette Edwige
Cunati in Vésoul.
She began her acting career at the theater where she first appearad
under the pseudonym Cora Lynn.
Moreover, she was also a member of the Comédie Française
for a brief time.
She made her film debut already in 1931 with movies like "Mam'zelle
Nitouche" (31) and "La fine combine" (31). In the next years she became
a demanded leading actress who was convincing in productions like "Monsieur
Albert" (32), "Une petite femme dans le train" (33), "Les aventures du
roi Pausole" (33), "Topaze" (35), "Stradivarius" (35), "Lucrèce
Borgia" (35) - where a nude appearance produced a small scandal, "Amore"
(36), "Feu!" (37) and "Sans lendemain" (39). Normally she impersonated
noble ladies.
Till the end of the 40's followed big screen movies periodically but
she never neglected her second career on stage.
To her well-known movies during and briefly after World War II belong
"L'émigrante" (40), "De Mayerling à Sarajevo" (40), "La duchesse
de Langeaius" (42), "L'honorable Catherine" (43), "L'idiot" (46) and "L'aigle
à deux têtes" (48).
Her appearances became more seldom from the 50's still she worked for
the film and television till to the 90's and proved that the mentality
not to occupy actresses beyond 50 is a big mistake.
She was convincing in "Olivia" (50), "Adorables créatures" (52),
"Quand la femme s'en mêle" (57), "La vie à deux" (58), "Aimez-vous
les femmes?" (64), Le clair de terre" (70), La folle de Chaillot" (76),
Le tueur triste" (84) and "La dame de lieudit" (93).
To her numerous awards belong among others the appointment to the Legion
of Honour in 1980 and the "Grand-Croix dans l'Ordre National du Mérite".
