The actress Isabelle Huppert belongs to the great stars of the French
cinema since the 70's.
It all began with her entry to the conservatory in Versailles in 1968.
After the win of the player award for "Un caprice" her play career was
paved. It followed first small roles in movies like "Le prussien" (71),
"Le bar de la fourche" (72), "Faustine et le bel été" (72),
"César et Rosalie" (72) as sister of Romy Schneider, "Les valseuses
- Die Ausgebufften" (74) and "Rosebud - Unternehmen Rosebud" (75) directed
by Otto Preminger.
1977 followed the breakthrough with "La dentellière - Die Spitzenklöpplerin"
directed by Claude Goretta.
In the next years she took part in many successful movies and she often
impersonated the roles of the victims. To her most popular productions
of the next years belong "Violette Nozière" (78), "Les soeurs Brontë"
(79), "Sauve qui peut la vie" (79), "Loulou" (80), "La dame aux camélias"
(80) and "Heaven's Gate" (80) - her first American movie.
Isabelle Huppert is connected with the film business till today, her
performance ability kept undiminished.
To her lasted works belong "Une affaire de femmes" (88), "Madame Bovary"
(91), "La cérémonie" (95), "Saint-Cyr" (00), "La pianiste
- Die Klavierspielerin" (01) and "8 femmes" (02).
Her importance to the French film is especially reflected in the amount
of nominations for the César. She was nominated for a total of twelve
times, in 1996 she won the César eventually.
