. The career of the filmcomposer Raymond Lefèvre was bound up with the one of director Jean Girault and the comedian Louis de Funès. He became famous with his music to the sequels around the Gendarm of St. Tropez with a De Funès in top form. To his well-known scores belong "Le Gendarme de St. Tropez" (64), "Le Gendarme à New York" (65), "Les murs ont des oreilles" (74), "L'intrépide" (75) and "La soupe aux choux" (81). One of his few filmmusics which were not composed for a movie directed by Jean Girault was "Déclic et des claques" (65). Besides his activity as a filmcomposer he was also distinguished as
a songwriter. He landed several hits like "La La La (He Gives Me Love),
"Puppet on a String" and "A Whiter Shade of Pale", which ranked in high
positions in the hit parade.
