. The actress Sophie Marceau was born as Sophie Danièle Sylvie Maupu in Paris. She conquered the heart of the public at the age of 14 with „La Boum“ (1980) and became a teenager idol overnight. Also the sequel "La Boum 2" was able to captive the public two years later. Sophie Marceau was awarded with a César as the most promising up-and-coming actress - an expectation she confirmed in the next years completely. With „Joyeuses Pâques - Frohe Ostern“ (84) and especially with the scandal film „Descente aus enfers - Abstieg zur Hölle“ (86) she started successfully her new career as a serious actress and character player. The change from a teenager star to an adult worked smoothly. She became established as an erotic star with movies like „L'étudiante - Die Studentin“ (88) and „Mes nuits sont plus belles que vos jours - Meine Nächte sind schöner als Deine Tage“ (89). This changed her image and her life completely. Already with her next movie „L'amour braque - Liebe und Gewalt“ (85) she represented a complete new side which united violence, wildness and hopelessness. In the movie „Fanfan - Fanfan und Alexandre“ (92) she impersonated a rewarding role as swinging Fanfan and with the movie „La fille de d'Artagnan - D‘Artagnans Tochter“ (94) she became acquainted with a new genre - the costume film. The constant success wasn't overlooked in Hollywood. She played the role of Princess Isabelle at Mel Gibson's side in the Oscar awarded movie „Braveheart“ (95). This movie oppened the doors to the US filmindustry and since then she commuties between France and the USA. She took part in „Anna Karenina“ (97), „ Marquise“ (97), „A Midsummer Night‘s Dream“ (99), dem James-Bond-Streifen „The World Is Not Enough“ (99) and „La Fidélité (00). Besides the film she also devote successfully to the theater where she
was awarded with the "Molière" - an award for the up-and-coming
star.
