1922 - 2008

He studied at the National statistical institute in Paris after World War II and worked as a diplomaed farmer, among others on a banana plantation in West India.
His first published book called "Les gommes" (53) was already awarded with the Fénélon prize in 1954. After that he wrote books like "Le voyer" (55), "La jalousie" (57) and "Dans le labyrinthe" (59).

At the beginning of the 60's he wrote his first script for "L'année dernière à Marienbad" (61) and he was nominated for Oscar at the first go.
In the next years he was responsible for the scripts to "L'immortelle" (63), "Trans-Europ-Express" (66), "N. a pris les dés..." (71), "Le jeu avec le feu" (75), "La belle captive" (83) and "Taxandria" (96).

He is still successful as an author and he wrote novels like "La belle captive" (75), "Djinn" (81), "Le mirror que revient" (84) and "La reprise" (01).
