The actor Jean Sorel was very successful both in French as well as
Italian productions, later followed engagements in Spain too.
He made his film debut in 1959 with "J'irai cracher sur vos tombes",
in the 60's he became established as an impressive actor in producitons
like "Vive Henri IV...vive l'amour!" (61), "L'oro di Roma" (61), "Julia,
Du bist zauberhaft" (62), "Germinal" (63), "La ronde" (64), "L'uomo che
ride" (66), "Belle de jour" (67), "I protagonisti" (68) and "L'amica" (69).
He continued his career in the 70's and 80's and appeared regular in
front of the camera, for the big screen as well as for TV productions.
To his well-known movies of those years belong "Paranoia" (70), "La
controfigura" (71), "The Day of the Jackal" (73), "Une vieille maîtresse"
(75), "Der Mann im Schilf" (78), "Les soeurs Brontë" (79), "Aimée"
(81), "Bonnie e Clyde all'italiana" (82), "L'herbe rouge" (85) and the
serial "Le clan" (88).
After that he slowly retired from the film business, it followed only
sporadic appearances in front of the camera like "Un piede in paradiso"
(91), "Il prezzo della vita" (93), the serial "Butterfly" (95) and "A nous
deux la vie" (98).
