Mit seiner nächsten Arbeit zu "Rocky" (76) von Sylvester Stallone katapulierte sich Bill Conti in die Top-Liga der Filmkomponisten und seine Box-Hymne avancierte zu einem Welthit.

In den nächsten Jahren vertonte er Produktionen wie "A Sensitive, Passionate Man" (77), "Handle with Care" (77), "F.I.S.T." (78), "The Pirate" (78), "The Seduction of Joe Tynan" (79) und "Rocky II" (79).

Die 80er Jahre boten ihm ebenfalls zahlreiche Filmkompositionen an und er schrieb den Soundtrack zu den erfolgreichen Filmen "Private Benjamin" (80), "Gloria" (80), die James-Bond-Verfilmung "For Your Eyes Only" (81), die Serie "Dynasty" (81-89), "I,  the Jury" (82), "Bad Boys" (83), "The Right Stuff" (83), "The Karate Kid" (84), "The Bear" (84), "Stark" (85), die Serie "North and South" (85), "F/X" (86), "Big Trouble" (86), "Happy New Year" (87), "Masters of the Universe" (87), "Baby Boom" (87), "Broadcast News" (87), "Betrayed" (88) und "Cohen and Tate" (89).

Zu Bill Contis jüngsten filmischen Arbeiten gehören "Rocky V" (90), "Year of the Gun" (91), "The Adventures of Huck Finn" (93), "8 Seconds" (94), "Spy Hard" (96), "The Thomas Crown Affair" (99), "Tortilla Soup" (01), "Judas" (04), "Rocky Balboa" (06) und "The Perfect Game" (08).

Bill Conti wurde in den Jahren 1977 und 1982 jeweils für den Oscar nominiert, 1984 erhielt er diesen für "The Right Stuff". Weitere Auszeichnungen sind drei Golden Globe Nominationen sowie drei Emmys und 10 weitere Emmy-Nominationen.
