Joel Goldsmiths Karriere beim Film wurde von seinem Vater, dem legendären
Jerry Goldsmith, sozusagen vorgelebt.
Begonnen hatte er seine Laufbahn als Filmkomponist mit der Vertonung
von "Laserblast" (78) zusammen mit Richard Band. Es folgten "Doomsday Chronicles"
(79) und "Island of Blood" (82), ehe er 1983 mit "Olivia" (83) seine erste
Solo-Filmkomposition ablieferte.
In den kommenden Jahren schrieb Joel Goldsmith die Musik für
Produktionen wie "The Man with Two Brains" (83), "Banzai Runner" (87),
"No Safe Haven" (87) und "Watchers" (88).
In den 90er Jahren etablierte er sich als vielbeschäftigter
Filmkomponist, sowohl für Kino als auch Fernsehen.
Dazu gehören die Filme "Moon 44" (90), "Blue Desert" (91),
"Joshua Tree" (93), "Bad Blood" (94), "Vampirella" (96), "Shiloh" (96),
"Inferno" (98), "Stealth Fighter" (99) und "Monster!" (99).
Zu seinen letzten filmischen Arbeiten gehören "Witchblade" (00),
"Helen of Troy" (03), "Haunting Sarah" (05), "Fatal Desire" (06) und "Stone's
War" (08).
Joel Goldsmith wurde für drei Emmys nominiert.
