Brian Keane wuchs in einer musikalischen Familie auf und sammelte
erste Erfahrungen als Gitarrist in der Jazz-Szene von New York City.
Während seiner langjährigen Zeit als Musiker erhielt er
zahlreiche Auszeichnungen und vertonte rund 100 Filme und publizierte gegen
40 Tonträger.
Seine Ausbildung erhielt er bei Karel Husa an der Cornell Universität.
Bereits anfangs der 70er Jahre etablierte er sich in dern New Yorker Jazz-Szene
als Musiker, eine Tätigkeit, die er bis heute aufrecht erhält.
Beim Film trat er ab 1990 in Erscheinung, zu seinen ersten Filmarbeiten
gehören "When Will I Be Loved?" (90), "The Parallax Garden" (93),
"Illtown" (96), "The Night Flier" (97) und "Babe Ruth" (98).
In den letzten Jahren entstanden zahlreiche weitere Filmkompositionen
- meist Dokumentarfilme - wie "After Amy" (01), "The Shakespeare sessions"
(03), "Nine Innings from Ground Zero" (04), "The Blood of Yingzhou District"
(06) und "Michigan vs. Ohio State: The Rivalry" (07).
