The actress Iris Arlan was born as Annemarie Bünte in Glückstadt. She began her film career in 1927 with the movies "Die Lindenwirtin am Rhein" (27) and "Orientexpress" (27). 
To her other silent movies belong "Milak, der Grönlandjäger" (28) and "Vater Radetzky" (29).

She was able to continue her career in the 30's but her appearance in front of the camera kept rare.
To her well-known talkies belong "Die Tänzerin von Sans Souci" (32), "Unsterbliche Melodien" (35) and "Kirschen in Nachbars Garten" (35). 

Her third marriage was with the owner of the Margarine factory Alfred Voss. She continued the factory after his death. Beside it she was also engaged for the Germen Red Cross.
