Georg Baselt

. The actor Georg Baselt began his stage career in Torgau in 1890. It soon followed engagements in other German cities, among them also Berlin in 1898. Three years later he want to New York where he worked for one year, afterwards he returned to Germany. Georg Baselt was not only active as an actor at the theater but he also realised several plays as a director, among them in London and Berlin. He was very successful on stage with comical roles which made him popular for the audience. Georg Baselt entered the film business in 1915 and to his first movies of those years belong "Hampels Abenteuer" (15), "Frau Lenes Scheidung" (17), "Die blaue Mauritius" (18) and "Komtesse Dolly" (19). The height of his cinematical career followed in the 20s and he took part in the productions "Der Silberkönig" (21), "Das Rätsel der Spinx" (21), "Der Graf von Charolais" (22), "Marie Antoinette - Das Leben einer Königin" (22), "Der falsche Dimitri" (22), "Lola Montez, die Tänzerin des Königs" (22), "Horrido" (24), "Der Demütige und die Tänzerin" (25), "Varieté" (2), "Menschen untereinander" (26) and "Der Anwalt des Herzens" (27). One year after his last movie he died at the age of only 59.
