. The actress Katharine Berger first worked as a shop assistant before she became successful as a soubrette and actress. She began her career at the theater, later she also worked for the radio. She made her film debut with „Durch die Wüste“ (36), afterwards followed the box-office hit „Der Mann, der Sherlock Holmes war“ (37) with Heinz Rühmann and Hans Albers in the leading roles. Finally she acted in the productions „Der Edelweisskönig“ (39) and „Feinde“ (40) before she dedicated to the theater again. After World War II followed few more cinematical appearances, among them „Tragödie einer Leidenschaft“ (49), „Wake Me When the War Is Over“ (69) and an episode of the serial „The F.B.I.: The Target“ (70). She was married to the photographer Heinz Hajek-Halke. She wrote a diary for her son G. J. Berger, recording the difficult time she had with her then one-year-old son in 1944. Her son published these memories as a book entitled "To Steal a Moment's Time". |
