The actor Hermann Benke learnt his acting abilities at the theater beforehe also was able to gain a foothold in the film business.
To his first movies belong "Der Meineidbauer" (15), "Sommeridylle" (16), "Die Tragödie auf Schloss Rottersheim" (16), "Lebenswogen" (17) and "Der König amüsiert sich" (18).

In the 20's came his last cinematical works into being, among them "Die Frau in Weiss" (21), "Die Brandstifter Europas" (26) and "Die Frau von gestern und morgen" (28).
