. He joined the film business in 1916 where he was busy as a screen writer and director. To his first movies as a director belong "Kismet" (16), "Kindertränen" (16), "Der Mutter Schuld" (18) and "Die Nackten" (19). To many of those movies he also wrote the script. In the 20s he realised not only feature movies but also documentaries with socialistic content. To these works belong "Menschen" (20), "Dieb und Weib" (20), "Kreuzzug des Weibes" (26), "Die Hochstaplerin" (27), "Die Ausgestossenen" (27), "Rasputins Liebesabenteuer" (28) and "Heilige oder Dirne" (29). His film career came to an end with the rise of the sound film era. His only talky as a director was "Verklungene Träume" (30). Martin Berger was among others a member of the „Verband deutscher Filmautoren" and was a co-founder of the „Volksfilmbühne". He was married with the actress and producer Grete Ly.
