. The actress and singer Else Berna made her stage debut at the Residenz Theater in Dresden in 1902 before moving to Berlin, where she began training as an opera singer. Numerous engagements at various Berlin theaters followed in the years to come. Soon she also came to the attention of the film industry and appeared for the first time in front of the camera for "Tuberosen" (17). The production "Der König ihres Herzens" (18) followed. To her greatest successes belong the two movies "Satanas" (19) directed by the master director F.W. Murnau in the role of Lucrezia Borgia as well as "Madame Dubarry" (19) directed by Ernst Lubitsch with the German stars Pola Negri and Emil Jannings. In the 20's followed the last cinematical works with "Der Vampyr" (20), "Pariserinnen" (21) and "Nelly, die Braut ohne Mann" (23).
