. The director and producer Peter Paul Brauer began his career at the theater where he was active as a director and actor. He realised his first movie as a director in 1929 with the short film "Die Hochzeit des Faun" (29), it followed the short film "Der Boxstudent" (29) in the same year. The film business in the 30s became an important factor for his career and he shot not only movies as a director but was also responsible as a producer for numerous short movies. To the movies he produced belong "Alles für Anita!" (33), "Die Wette" (33), "Der Störenfried" (33), "Ritter wider Willen" (34), "April, April" (35), "Das Mädchen vom Moorhof" (35), "Bluff" (37), "Gewitterflug zu Claudia" (37), "Was tun, Sybille?" (38) and "Der Fünfzigmarkschein" (38). He also realised often movies as a director in the 30s and 40s, first short movies and from the end of the 30s also feature movies. To his well-known works of those years belong "Der Erlkönig" (31), "Vier Mädel und ein Mann" (36), "Was tun, Sybille?" (38), "Die schwedische Nachtigall" (41), "Die Kellnerin Anna" (41), "Der Seniorchef" (42) and "Glück bei den Frauen" (44). Peter Paul Brauer was only seldom active in the film business after the war, besides he was no so popular because of his denunciations of film colleagues during the National Socialism. To his few postwar movies belong "Es begann um Mitternacht" (51) as a director, "Das tanzende Herz" (53) as a producer and "Mädchen mit Zukunft" (54) as a production manager.
