Fanny Carlsen

. The screenwriter Fanny Carlsen was born as Fanny Kahane in Warschau. She wrote first screenplays for the film from 1918, among them "Die Liebe des van Royk" (18), "Marionetten der Leidenschaft" (19), "Der Seelenverkäufer" (19) and "Anna Karenina" (19). She became a busy screenwriter in the 20s and she realised scripts for numerous productions. To her well-known movies of those years belong "Die Erlebnisse der berühmten Tänzerin Fanny Elssler" (20), "Der Tod im Nacken" (20), "Die Geliebte des Grafen Varenne" (21), "Das Mädel von Picadilly" (21), "Die Kreutzersonate" (22), "Athleten" (25), "Das Haus der Lüge" (26), "Der Veilchenfresser" (26), "Die Weber" (27), "Thérèse Raquin" (28), "Der Biberpelz" (28), "Mary Lou" (28) and "Der rote Kreis" (29). With the rise of the sound film Fanny Carlsen only realised one more screenplay for the movie "Die Tänzerin von Sans Souci" (32). Her career ended with the rise of the National Socialists. As a Jew, she could no longer work and she emigrated to Paris, where she died in 1944.
