The actor and singer Carl Clewing was a much demanded actor in the pioneer time of the German silent film.
He was already very successful on stages and also popular as a heroic tenor when he made his film debut in 1911 with "Der fremde Vogel".

In the next years followed others roles in productions like "Ein Sommernachtstraum in unserer Zeit" (13), "Der Ring des schwedischen Reiters" (13), "Der Flug in die Sonne" (14) and "Die Richterin" (17).

His last cinematical appearances came in the 20's into being, among them "Whitechapel" (20) and "Sumurun" (20).
