. The actor Leo Connard joined an acting education at the conservatory in Vienna and afterwards he made his stage debut in Marburg in 1879. In the next years he got engagements at different theaters in Germany and single tours led him even till Russia. Leo Connard came to Berlin in 1895 where he appeared at well-known theaters like the Lessingtheater and the Berliner Theater. Finally he got in touch with the film business in 1916 and he became a demanded movie actor in the next few years. To his movies of those years belong "Der Thug" (16), "Der Tod des Erasmus" (16), "Der Schwur der Renate Rabenau" (17), "Das Spiel vom Tode" (17), "Es werde Licht!, 3. Teil" (18), "Vertauschte Seelen" (18), "Jettchen Geberts Geschichte" (18), the international success "Anders als die Anderen" (19) with Albert Bassermann and "Die Arche" (19). For the movies "Wundersam ist das Märchen der Liebe" (18) and "Dunkle Macht" (19) Leo Connard was responsible for the direction. His last cinematical works came in the 20s into being, among them "Whitechapel" (20), "Der Würger der Welt" (20), "Wallenstein" (25), "Mata Hari, die rote Tänzerin" (27) and "Luther" (28). His film career ended with the rise of the sound film era. Leo Connard was married with the actress Marie "Mizzi" Lettau.
