Will Dohm

. The actor Will Dohm was born as Wilhelm Dohm in Köln-Delbrück geboren. He served as a second lieutenant for the infantery during World War I. After the war he accepted a job at a bank in Cologne and beside it he took acting lessons at Georg Kiesau. He made his stage debut in Mühlhausen in 1921, other engagements followed in Aachen, Cologne and Stuttgart. In 1926 he was engaged to the Munich Kammerspiele and was very successful there. In movies he came up from 1928 now and then, so in "Waterloo" (28) and
"Spuren im Schnee" (29). But only with the talkies he became a popular
actor in normally funny support roles.
Till the end he impersonated many other roles, among others in "Kora Terry" (40), "Der Gasmann" (41), "Das Bad auf der Tenne" (43), "Der Meisterdetektiv" (44) and "Die Fledermaus" (45). After the war he concentrated exclusively to the theater and continued his career in Munich. He had to cut out the film project "Der Apfel ist ab" (48) for health reason. Shortly afterwards he died in Munich. Will Dohm was married with the actress Heli Finkenzeller. Their common
daughter Gaby Dohm went on with the tradition of acting and became very
popular with the TV serial "Die Schwarzwaldklinik" (85).
