. The costume designer Charles Drecoll was born Johann Wilhelm Rudolf Christoph von Drecoll in Hamburg. He owned the Charles Drecoll fashion house and was already designing costumes for plays at the end of the 19th century. He became known to a wider audience with his costume designs for silent films. His first costume designes were for the productions "Aus Liebe gefehlt" (16), "Der Schwur der Renate Rabenau" (17), "Taumel" (19), "Lilli" (19), "Fräulein Colibri" (19) and "Baccarat" (19). He continued his film career in the 20s with costumes for few more movies, among them "Die Frau ohne Seele" (20), "Va banque" (20) and "Le double amour" (25). He only was credited again for costumes in a movie in 1951. For "Ombre et lumière" (51) he created the costumes for the actress Maria Casares.
