. The actress Johanna Ewald conquered the was very successful at the beginning of the German film industry and became one of the first German movie stars. Her first appearance in front of the camera already came in 1897 into being with "Gestörtes Rendez-vous", from 1914 followed movies like "Mein Name ist Spiesecke" (14), "Sein einziger Patient" (16) and "Fräulein Taugenichts" (19). She reached the height of her career in the 20's and she took part in productions like "Ehe man Ehemann wird" (20), "Die Prinzessin vom Nil" (20), "Miss Venus" (21), "Zwei Welten" (22), "Dudu, ein Menschenfeind" (24), "Die Zirkusprinzessin" (25), "Der Sträflingskavalier" (27), "Der moderne Casanova" (28), "Kampf ums Matterhorn" (28) and "Der Herr vom Finanzamt" (29). The talkies of the 30's offered her smaller and bigger support roles
in the productions "Moderne Mitgift" (32), "Elisabeth und der Narr" (34),
"Ihr grösster Erfolg" (34), "Der schüchterne Casanova" (36),
"Condottieri" (37), "Sein bester Freund" (37) and "Die Frau meiner Träume"
(44) - her last cinematical work.
