Ilse Exl

The actress Ilse Exl grew up in an artistic family. Her father was the actor Ferdinand Exl, who founded the Exl-Bühne, and her mother was the actress Anna Exl.
 
So it was only natural that Ilse Exl also took up acting and she made her stage debut at the age of 13.
In the following years, she appeared in numerous stage plays at her father's theater.
When he died in 1942, she took over the management of the Exl-Bühne and continued to run it until her death.
 
She only appeared seldom in movies, so in “Der Meineidbauer” (41), “Wetterleuchten um Barbara” (41), “Erde” (47), “Trotzige Herzen” (47) and “Ulli und Marei” (48).
 
Her last cinematical work came into being with “Was das Herz befiehlt” (51).
