. The actress Gertrud Eysoldt was in her element she she acted at the theater. The film was always only a small part of her career and she appeared only sporadically in movies - especially in the silent movie era. Gertrud Eysoldt got an acting training in Dresden and Munich. She made
her debut at the Hoftheater Munich in 1890 and became one of the most respected
actresses in the following years.
She made her film debut in 1923 with the movies "Das brennende Geheimnis" and "Der verlorene Schuh" (23). In the next years followed other movies like "Dr. Bessels Verwandlung" (27) and "Die Dame mit der Maske" (28) before she turned exclusively to the theater again. She only appeared in front of the camera in 1941 for the movie "...reitet für Deutschland", it followed her last movies "Ein Windstoss" (42) and "Nachtwache" (49). In memory of the great actress the city Bensheim awards the cultural
prize "Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring" since 1986.
