The actress Erna Fentsch began against the will of her parents an acting career and had first successes at the theater.
At the beginning of the 30's she also appeared in first movies and continued her film career till the end of World War II.

To her well-known movies belong "Der Tunnel" (33), "Der Springer von Pontresina" (34), "Ehestreik" (35), "Unter heissem Himmel" (36) and "Die keusche Sünderin" (43).

Erna Fentsch chose a completely new direction in the film business from 1945 and made a name for writing scripts.
To her well-known scripts belong "Das Tor zum Paradies/Der Brandner Kasper schaut ins Paradies" (49), "Föhn" (50), "Ein Herz spielt falsch" (53), "Das Bekenntnis der Ina Kahr" (54), "Kronprinz Rudolfs letzte Liebe" (56) and "Sebastian Kneipp - Der Wasserdoktor" (58).

Later she also worked for television and wrote among others scenarios for the serial "Tatort".

Besides her work for the film she published severals books from 1965, among them many crime novels which were published with her pen name Ernestine Wery.
To her books belong "Auf dünnem Eis" (79), "Im kalten Licht des Mondes" (84) and "Lilie und Schwert" (88).

Erna Fentsch was married with the actor Carl Wery for whose movies she often wrote the scripts.
