Siegwart Gruder

. The actor Siegwart Gruder was born as Moses Schulem Gruder in Lemberg. He got his acting education by famous actors like Georg Reimers, Joseph Lewinsky and Josef Altmann. He already got offered his first stage role at the famous Burgtheater in Vienna in 1889, it followed engagements at different theaters in Germany which led him to Berlin in 1912. There he joined the film business and he impersonated first roles in the early silent movies "Die gelbe Rasse" (12), "Die lebende Brücke" (12), "Der Strohwitwer" (12) and "S1" (13). His career came interrupted by World War I and he served in the army during this time. He continued his theater career after the end of the war and he playeda again numerous roles. He only appeared in few more movies in the following years, among them "Angelo, das Mysterium des Schlosses/Die Schreckensnacht auf Schloss Drachenegg" (19), "Der Henker von Sankt Marien" (20) and "Die Prinzessin vom Nil" (20). |
