. The actor Carl Günther made his film debut already in 1917 with "Onkel Tobias als Tugendwächter" (17), it followed the movie "Leidvolle Liebe" (18). He took part in several movies in the 20's like "Das Rätsel der Sphinx" (21), "Die Abenteuerin von Monte Carlo" (21), "Der Ruf des Schicksals" (22) and "Moderne Laster" (24). From the middle of the 30's he became a popular actor of normally noble origins like officers, aristocrats or people in executive post. He often gave his support roles a touch of elegance und was convincing in movies like "Lady Windermeres Fächer" (35), "Burgtheater" (36), "Gauner im Frack" (37), "Hotel Sacher" (39), "Maria Ilona" (39), "Stern von Rio" (40), "Der grosse König" (42), "Romanze in Moll" (43) and "Herr Sanders lebt gefährlich" (44). He was able to continue his film career successfully after the war till
his death. To his last movies belong "Das andere Leben" (48), "Der Engel
mit der Posaune" (48), "Eroica" (49), "Schuss um Mitternacht" (49) and
"Der fidele Bauer" (51).
