. The actress Hedwig Gutzeit was born as Hedwig Wegener in Arnoldsdorf. Her brother was the famous actor and director Paul Wegener. She wrote few fairy tales but today she is best remembered as a movie actress in some early classics by her brother Paul Wegener and Rochus Gliese. She played in "Rübezahls Hochzeit" (16) the role of the Buschgrossmutter with Paul Wegener, Ernst Waldow, Lyda Salmonova, Georg Jacoby and Rochus Gliese, afterwards followed small roles in "Der Yoghi" (17) with Paul Wegener and Lyda Salmonova and "Der Galeerensträflin" (19) at the side of Paul Wegener, Lyda Salmonova, Paul Hartmann, Ernst Deutsch, Adele Sandrock, Jakob Tiedtke and Armin Schweizer. Her last cinematical works came at the beginning of the 20s into being as the wife of mayor in "Der verlorene Schatten" (21) with Paul Wegener, Lyda Salmonova, Wilhelm Bendow, Adele Sandrock, Leonhard Haskel and Greta Schröder and the title role in "Malchen, die Unschuld vom Lande" (21) with Kurt Böttcher, Irmgard Foss and Eveline Burchard. Hedwig Gutzeit died in 1945 during a bombing raid. |
