Karl Haacker

. The production designer Karl Haacker began his career at the theater where he created different settings. After a brief arrest in 1918 because of his political activity he worked as a painter before he joined the film business. From 1929 Karl Haacker created the design for several well-known movies. To these productions belong "Jenseits der Strasse" (29), "Mutter Krausens Fahrts ins Glück" (29), "Kuhle Wampe oder: Wem gehört die Welt?" (32), "Schleppzug M 17" (33), "Mazurka" (35), "Der Student von Prag" (35), "Mädchenjahre einer Königin" (36), "Die Warschauer Zitadelle" (37), "Verwehte Spuren" (39) and "Schneider Wibbel" (39). His last cinematical works came at the beginning of the 40s into being for "Nanette" (40), "Casanova heiratet" (40), "Wir bitten zum Tanz" (41) and "Brüderlein fein" (42). After the end of World War II Karl Haacker was killed in an accident. His daughter Sonja Haacker became an actress.
