Milo Harbich

. The cutter and director Milo Harbich was born as Emilio Harbich in Porto Alegre. His family returned to Germany in 1904 where Milo Harbich got acting lessons by the famous actor Erich Ponto many years later. It followed engagements at smaller theaters in Hanau and Hirschberg. Besides his activity as an actor he also learnt the profession of a scene painter and in 1930 he got an education as a cutter by Erich Schmidt. From 1933 he was regular responsible for the cut of movies. To these productions belong "Was wissen denn Männer" (33), "Hitlerjunge Quex" (33), "Inge und die Millionen" (33), "Ein Mann will nach Deutschland" (34), "Der höhere Befehl" (35), "Zu neuen Ufern" (37) and the monumental film "Münchhausen" (43). Also in 1933 he made first experiences as a director assistant. In this function he took part in the movies "Inge und die Millionen" (33), "Einer zuviel an Bord" (35), "Mein Freundin Barbara" (37), "Der Weg ins Freie" (41) and "Hochzeit auf Bärenhof" (42). He realised his first movie as a director in 1939 with "Tee zu zweien" (39). Other works as a movie director followed with "Kriminalkommissar Eyck" (40) and "Wie konntest Du, Veronika!" (40). He continued his film career after World War II. As a cutter he worked for the Brazilian productions "Pecadora Imaculada" (52), "Almas em Conflito" (55) and "Terra da Perdicao" (62). As a director he shot the movies "Freies Land" (46), "Achtung, Gefahr!" (48) and "Mulher di Diabo" (52).
