. The director Martin Hartwig was born as Martin Hirsch in Berlin. He began his career at the theater and he appeared in Oldenburg, Cincinnati USA, Lucerne, Trier and Berlin. He already shot his first movies in 1916 with "Des Königs Stimme" (16) and "Sie wandelten im Banne des Bösen" (16). In the 20s followed numerous other movies as a director with "Brigantenliebe" (20), "Colombine" (20), "Liebestaumel" (21), "Das Mädchen aus der Ackerstrasse, 3. Teil (21), "Die rätselhafte Zwölf" (21), "Opfer der Liebe" (23) and "Die fünfte Strasse" (23). Besides his activity as a director he also wrote the screenplay for the productions "Das Mädchen aus der Ackerstrasse, 3. Teil" (21) and "Ebbe und Flut" (21). He also took part as an actor in front of the camera in several movies. To these works belong "Sie wandelten im Banne des Bösen" (16), "De Profundis" (19), "Die Pantherbraut" (19), "Der Kelch der Keuschheit" (20), "Im Namen des Kaisers" (25) and "Der König und das kleine Mädchen" (25).
