. The actor Martin Herzberg was able to launch a very extensive film career as a child star from 1919, which brought him together with the leading actors of his time. He made his debut at the age of 8 with "Das Geheimnis von Schloss Holloway" (19) with Esther Carena and Charley Willy Kayser. In the same year followed "Jugendliebe" (19), "Die Sühne der Martha Marx" (19) and "Pogrom" (19). The 20's formed the height of his film career and he appeared in well-known German and Danish productions like "Die Abenteuer der Marquise von Königsmarck" (20), "Anna Karenina" (20), "David Copperfield" (22), "Paganini" (23), "Carlos und Elisabeth" (24), "Die Prinzessin und der Geiger" (25), "Primanerliebe" (27), "Maria Stuart" (27) and "Verirrte Jugend" (29). With the rise of the talkies only a few more movies were made, among them "Die letzte Kompanie" (30), "Väter und Söhne" (30) and "Das Flötenkonzert von Sans-souci" (30). After that Martin Herzberg retired from the film business at the age of just 19. At the beginning of the 30's Martin Herzberg went to the Canary Islands and stayed there when the National Socialists came to power in Germany and he was considered a quarter Jew. He lived in Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he worked as a photographer. In 1940 his name appears again as a screenwriter for the Spanish film "Gloria del Moncayo" (40).
