The actress Margot Hielscher first attended an education as a costume
designer before she devoted to singing and acting.
She made her film debut at the age of 21 with "Das Herz der Königin"
(40), one year later followed "Auf Wiedersehen, Franziska" (41), where
she also worked as a costume designer.
Till the end of World War II followed movies like "Frauen sind keine
Engel" (43), "Reise in die Vergangenheit" (43), "Das Lied der Nachtigall"
(44) and "Der Täter ist unter uns" (44).
After the war followed the height of her career. She not only worked
in more movies than before but also began a second career as a singer.
To her first post-war movies belong "Spuk im Schloss" (47), "Dreimal
Komödie" (49) and "Hallo Fräulein" (49).
She experienced the most successful time in the 50's with movies like
"Der Teufel führt Regie" (51), "Nachts auf den Strassen" (52), "Salto
Mortale" (53), "Jonny rettet Nebrador" (53) and "Anastasia - Die letzte
Zarentochter" (56).
In 1957 und 1958 she represented Germany as a singer for the Grand
Prix d'Eurovision and was placed 4th and 7th.
From the 60's she also appeared in TV productions. She kept active as
an actress till the end of the 80's and entertained the audience with movies
like "Mörderspiel" (61), "Wälsungenblut" (65), "Der Zauberberg"
(82) and the serial "Rivalen der Rennbahn" (89).
Margot Hielscher was married with the filmcomposer Friedrich Meyer.
