Eliza Illiard

The actress and singer Eliza Illiard was born as Elisabeth Pieper in Cologne. She began her artistic career at the theater in Mannheim, followed by engagements in Dresden and Berlin.

She launched a short-lived film career in Germany beginning in the 1930s.

In her first movie "Gern hab' ich die Frau'n geküsst" (34) she impersonated the role of Duchess Anna Elisa von Lucca at the side of Ivan Petrovich, Theo Lingen, Adele Sandrock and Rudolf Klein-Rogge.
She then played Madame Teresa Brunetti in "Aufforderung zum Tanz" (34) with Willy Domgraf-Fassbaender, Ernst Rotmund, Karl Platen and Antoin Pointner.

In 1935 she was Countess Olga Woronzoff in E.W. Emo's "Petersburger Nächte" (35) with Paul Hörbiger, Theo Lingen, Ernst Dumcke and Jakob Tiedtke.

Her last pre-war films came in 1936 with "Liebeserwachen" (36) as Dora Brink alongside Eugen Klöpfer, Karin Hardt, Walter Rilla and Walter Steinbeck and as Evelyne Dixon "Skandal um die Fledermaus" (36) with Viktor de Kowa, Maria Andergast, Adele Sandrock, Heinz Salfner and Alfred Abel.

Her last film work was "Ehe man Ehemann wird" (41) in the role of Mrs. Weichert. Co-stars included Ewald Balser, Heli Finkenzeller, Maria Paudler, Erich Fiedler, Rudolf Carl and Victor Janson.

Eliza Illiard was married to the well-known film composer Will Meisel.
