Konstantin Irmen-Tschet

. The cinematographer Konstantin Irmen-Tschet was born as Konstantin Cetverikov in Moscow. He was adopted later and since than his name was Konstantin Irmen-Tschet. He went to Germany at the beginning of the 20s where he soon entered the film business. He was among others the assistant of the cinematographer Günther Rittau before he was part of the special effects of Fritz Lang's movies "Metropolis" (27) and "Frau im Mond" (29). Laer followed the movies "F.P.1 antwortet nicht" (31) and "Münchhausen" (43). He first worked as a cinematographer in 1928 for "Heimkehr" (28), it followed the silent film "Frau im Mond" (29). He became a demanded cinematographer in the 30s and Konstanin Irmen-Tschet was part of many popular productions. To his well-known works of those years belong "Liebling der Götter" (30), "Einbrecher" (30), "Der Mann, der seinen Mörder sucht" (31), "Bomben auf Monte Carlo" (31), "Ein toller Einfall" (32), "Ein blonder Traum" (32), "F.P.1 antwortet nichtg" (32), "Viktor und Viktoria" (33), "Mazurka" (35), "Boccaccio" (36), "Glückskinder" (36), "Fanny Elssler" (37), "Gasparone" (37) and "Nanon" (38). He also remained an important factor in the film business during World War II and he shot "Hallo Janine!" (39), "Kora Terry" (40), "Frauen sind doch bessere Diplomaten" (41), "Münchhausen" (43) and "Die Frau meiner Träume" (44). He continued his film career successfully after the war and he was behind the camera for the movies "Verspieltes Leben" (49), "Der Mann, der zweimal leben wollte" (50), "Heidelberger Romanze" (51), "Palace Hotel" (52), "Der träumende Mund" (53) and "Salto Mortale" (53) . Afterwards his last important feature movies came in Switzerland into being for the director Franz Schnyder. To these works belong "Der 10. Mai" (57), "Die Käserei in der Vehfreude" (58), "Anne Bäbi Jowäger" (60/62) and "Geld und Geist" (66). One of his most unusual works might been his collaboration as a cinematographer for Hans Hass' expedition to the Galapagos Island. They worked there from 1953 to 1954. Konstantin Irmen-Tschet was married with the actress Brigitte Horney.
