. The actress Hansi Knoteck was a successful singer and actress who experienced the height of her career in the 30's. After an education as a ballet dancer she studied at the Vienna Musik- and Kunst-Akademie. Finally followed first theater engagements in Marienbad and Leipzig. When she came to Berlin this marked the beginning of a successful film career. She made her film debut with "Schloss Hubertus" (34) and in the next years she took part in many important movies. To her well-known movies of the 30's belong "Fürst Woronzeff" (34), "Das Mädchen vom Moorhof" (35), "Das Schweigen im Walde" (37), "Der Mann, der Sherlock Holmes war" (37) and "Waldrausch (39). Her activities in movies dropped of during the war. She impersonated
roles in "Das sündige Dorf" (40), "Venus vor Gericht" (41) and "Das
war mein Leben" (44).
She was reputed to be a successful actress in movies with regional background
before the war which had a favorable effect for her roles after the war.
The movies with regional background experienced the height of its popularity
in the 50's and the offers for Hansi Knoteck were more or less limited
to this genre.
