Walter Lieck

The actor Walter Lieck began his career at the theater in Berlin in 1928, afterwards he joined the cabaret "Tinteltangel" where he soon became very popular.

The cabaret was closed with the rise of the National Socialists but Walter Lieck tried together with other colleagues to open it again in 1934. For this he was sentenced to the KZ Esterwegen for two months.

Altough he was married with a Half-Jew and he got several work prohibitions he was able to play numerous support roles in movies in the next years.

To his well-known movies of the 30s belong "La Paloma" (34), "Die beiden Seehunde" (34), "Die Umwege des schönen Karl" (38), "Bel Ami" (39), "Schneider Wibbel" (39) and "Sensationsprozess Casilla" (39).

He also impersonated many roles in well-known productions of the 40s.
To these cinematical works belong "Bal paré" (40), "Die drei Codonas" (40), "Der Kleinstadtpoet" (40), "...reitet für Deutschland" (41), "Der Gasmann" (41), "Jenny und der Herr im Frack" (41), "Quax der Bruchpilot" (41), "Rembrandt" (42), "Dr. Crippen an Bord" (42), "Münchhausen" (43), "Romanze in Moll" (43), "Ein schöner Tag" (44) and "Hundstage" (44).

Besides his activity as an actor Walter Lieck also wrote several screenplays for "Annelie" (41), "Liebesgeschichten" (43), "Gefährlicher Frühling" (43) and "Frühlingsmelodie" (45).

Shortly afterwards Walter Lieck died as the result of a blood poisoning.
